Melissa Gaudet's artwork uses photographic methods to explore the function of memory and the interaction of life and death. This body of work speaks of stillness and timelessness. questions of movement and mortality are intertwined. Her latest body of work explores these concepts through new images of movement embedded with secrets, echoed by the silence of blue. Photographic objects overlap optically or are stitched together to blend together past and present. This childlike approach is the yearning for the past but learning to embrace the present. The preservation of an image extends the life of the subject long after their death. a llowing the viewer a specific view into a perceivable history. Utram bibis? Aquam an undam? What are you drinking? The water or the wave?
